Arts Council Grant
This entry is about my on-going project (be)longing which looks at themes of race, heritage, transracial adoption and estrangement. Click here to read all of the posts on this topic.
After a second gruelling 12 week wait after an application re-submission I’m so excited that my (be)longing project is now funded by Arts Council England.
A generous grant of £49k will support me to work with partners Bethlem Gallery and Queercircle to:
Produce a solo show at @bethlemgallery (spring 2026) exploring my personal relationship to belonging through the lens of queer, disabled and mixed heritage identities.
Deliver a programme of creative workshops, events & a symposium for both Bethlem Gallery and Queercircle exploring migration, queerness, adoption, heritage, family estrangement & more.
Commission 2 x early career artists exploring belonging in their practice with one off grants of £2500 each, whose work will be shown alongside mine in the exhibition.
All with psychological support as part of my commitment to making sure that artists like me with wonky brains are cared for when making personal & sensitive works.
